Following his MBA, Mr. Ellis was offered an immediate position with IBM Corporation as a Financial Analyst in Chicago, Illinois, where he reviewed budgets and cost/expense forecasts to advise Project Executives on recommendations for keeping project costs low.  After over two years in Chicago, he was promoted to Senior Financial Accountant in New York City, near the IBM headquarters.
 
After two years in NYC, Mr. Ellis returned to St. Tammany to raise his family and to work for his father’s insurance business, Robert Ellis & Associates, where all of his energies have been focused on growth and development, helping the business to succeed via direct sales and account management. 
 
Mr. Ellis has furthered his knowledge in the health insurance and employee benefits industry by earning his Chartered Benefit Consultant (CBC) certification.  He is nearly finished earning his Registered Health Underwriter (RHU) and Registered Employee Benefit Consultant (REBC) certifications from the American College.  He has accumulated ten years of experience in the health insurance industry and has provided many groups and individuals with thousands of dollars of savings to their bottom line through better co-pay plans, Health Reimbursement Arrangement (HRA) models and Health Savings Account (HSA) strategies.
 
Mr. Ellis has produced over 700 new business sales in the five years since working for Robert Ellis & Associates, primarily in the areas of association groups and individual health insurance for clients including dentists, lawyers, pharmacists, physicians and certified public accountants in Mississippi and Louisiana.  He was elected President of the Mandeville Chapter of Business Network International (BNI) as a direct result of his marketing, referral and direct sales efforts.  Through this strategic network, he has completed direct health insurance sales to clients spanning from Shreveport to New Orleans.
 
In addition to his professional accomplishments, his philanthropic contributions as an active leader in the local community span two decades as an Eagle Scout in 1989, a two-time recipient of the SAE fraternity Community Service Award, and service on the St. Tammany Chamber Ambassadors Council.  Mr. Ellis is also the Immediate Past Chairman of the St. Tammany Parish Chamber’s Health Insurance Task Force and has served in the elected positions of Vice President and Grounds Chairman on the Board of Fontainebleau Homeowner’s Association, President of the St. James Condominium Association, and is a nominee for “Leadership St. Tammany,” Class of 2008. 
  
David Ellis was elected by the St. Tammany West Chamber Board as the Chamber’s representative on the Mandeville Municipal Civil Service Board, where he will represent public interest regarding police personnel administration in the services of the city government.  Additionally, he will advise and assist the mayor with reference to the maintenance and improvement of personnel standards.
 
As a result of his dedication to the Northshore, he co-founded a for-profit website, along with his good friend since grade school, which has the emphasis on local community awareness, service and leadership.  He is proud to announce that Northshore Links is now investing 10% of total profits back into the community we serve.
